Questlove Makes His Cameo On Law & Order: SVU Where He Appears Opposite Ice T & Tamara Tunie As A Corpse

Questlove can cross another item off of his bucket list with his cameo on last night’s episode of Law & Order: SVU, where he appears opposite Kelli Giddish, Ice T and Tamara Tunie as a corpse. Questo’s time on the slab follows his mention of a longstanding wish to fulfill the role during a 2013 Us Weekly interview entitled Questlove: 25 Things You Don’t Know About Me. Seven spots down on the list, between our fearless leader’s 12 jobs and his more recent forays into stand-up comedy, he noted:

7. It’s my fantasy to play a dead body on Law & Order.

Questlove’s appearance on the show follows The Roots‘ recent move from Late Night With Jimmy Fallon to The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and news that the group is prepping & Then You Shoot Your Cousin – their forthcoming 11th studio LP – for release via Def Jam sometime in 2014. Check the footage below to watch a clip of Questo’s debut on Law & Order: SVU. Watch the full episode of Law & Order: SVU on NBC.com.

Black Simon & Garfunkel Perform Lorde's "Royals" Live On The Tonight Show

Black Simon & Garfunkel return to the small screen with a cover of Lorde‘s smash hit “Royals” live on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. The duo takes the stage at the behest of a fan, who suggested they pay Fallon a visit. Their acoustic performance softened the bright tone of the original and swapped it for a sweet, soothing vocal that gives the track a lullaby vibe. Another home run for the folk gods. Check the footage below to watch Black Simon & Garfunkel’s performance of “Royals.” Stay tuned for more from The Tonight Show.

Bobby McFerrin & Jimmy Fallon Perform An Impromptu Duet Live On The Tonight Show With Some Help From The Roots

Bobby McFerrin wowed The Tonight Show audience last night with a performance of “Drive My Car” from his 1988 Simple Pleasures LP. He took the stage to perform his version of The Beatles‘ classic with a little help from The Roots. McFerrin’s performance last night follows the 2013 release of his Spirityouall LP, which finds the legendary vocalist tackling negro spirituals. Bringing his incomparable dynamism to the stage, McFerrin leapt around the register with the same playful spirit and staggering technical skill that has endeared him to the world for decades. Assuming a horn part, McFerrin traded frequently with ?uestlove before making his way over to Jimmy Fallon‘s desk and handing him a microphone. The rest, as they say, is history. Check the footage below to watch Bobby McFerrin’s performance with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots. Purchase McFerrin’s Spirityouall LP via iTunes. Stay tuned for more from The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.

Jimmy Fallon x Idina Menzel x The Roots Perform “Let It Go” On Classroom Instruments + Ask The Roots

Jimmy Fallon x Idina Manziel x The Roots Perform "Let It Go" On Classroom Instruments

Turns out, when Jimmy Fallon and The Roots made their way to The Tonight Show, someone told em they could bring there box of toys, as Idina Manzel– not the Travoltafied Adele Dazeem– took to the big playroom to perform her Academy Award winning “Let It Go” from the triumphant animated feature Frozen with The Roots and Jimmy backing the EGOT champion on assorted kazoos, ukuleles, and pocket xylophones. Idina’s masterful powerhouse vocals stunted supreme over the playful accompaniment, a true treat for the kid in ya.

But wait, there’s more. Ever wonder how Tariq became Black Thought or how ?uestlove got his inquisitive namesake? In an Ask The Roots segment, the crew gives an account of how each of them got their nicknames, begging the question, why didn’t Ahmir stick with “A-Sample” or even “The Divine Technique”? Its a take with The Roots that would make any stan proud. You can watch Idina Menzel rock with The Roots and Jimmy on The Tonight Show below, but after playtime is over, go see how The Roots got each of their respective names in the candid sit-down with the crew.

Roots Picnic 2014 Line Up revealed by Questlove

Roots Picnic 2014 is almost here! We’re amped to announce that the 7th Annual installment of the Philly institution will officially be going down Saturday May 31st at Festival Pier in the City of Brotherly Love. Questlove reveals the full line-up today via Okayplayer TV and it’s the kind of news that makes you want to say: Pssssst!  Maybe you thought you were already burned out on all the line-up announcements of the summer music festival season. But maybe you were mistaken. Because only one music festival has Snoop Dogg backed by The Roots! Yup. Let me spell that out for you again: The Big Snoop D-O-double-Gizzle backed by the Legendizzle Rizzle. At the 7th Annual Roots Pizzle in Illadizzl. In standard english that’s the Festival Pier on Penn’s Landing, Philadelphia, PA. As ever Roots Picnic goes down on the offical-unofficial first day of summer which this year means Saturday, May 31st.

The rest of the line-up reads like an equally epic roll-call that includes Janelle Monaé, Action Bronson, War On Drugs, A$AP Ferg, araabMUZIK, Jhené Aiko, Rudimental, Just Blaze, Bad Rabbits, Biz Markie (on the 1s and 2s), Roman Gianarthur, Chill Moody, Emily Wells, Electric Wire Hustle and of course The Roots (again) this time backing “The Roots.” Do not, however, take our words for it, scroll down to get the all bold face names written in black and white (actually blue and green and pink and orange) via the beautiful 7th Annual Roots Picnic poster art, rendered brilliantly by the homie Johnsville as is now Roots Picnic tradition. Or receive the full line-up information above in a more stripped down form as Questo announces the brain (and schedule) re-arranger that is Snoop x The Roots, without even taking a break from his famously packed schedule in our official Okayplayer TV reveal (amazing what that man can accomplish while he’s getting his hair braided). Watch our OKP TV recaps of the madness that went down at the 5th annual and 6th annual Roots Picnic(s) respectively to get psyched and we’ll see you on Penn’s Landing May 31st (stay tuned for pre-sale information).

Stay tuned to Okayplayer.com for the early bird pre-sale going live this Thursday from Noon to midnight ET.  Tickets on sale this Friday at RootsPicnic.com.
